Mavado Real McKoy Birthnite Bash Pictures & Review

After days of wrangling with the police, who eventually prevented it from happening at the larger outdoor location at Temple Hall in the hills of St. Andrew, dancehall singjay Mavado’s Real McKoy birthnite bash took place without incident last night at the The Building (formerly known as the Asylum Night Club) in New Kingston. Below we’ve featured some pictures and a short review courtesy of Mis Pamela aka ‘Dora the Explora’.

Mini-review courtesy of Mis Pamela aka ‘Dora the Explora’ – The Gully Gad was out with a full Alliance crew plus some special guests at The Building (formerly Asylum) last night. Selector Jigzy got the party going and then Boom Boom from the Gully Squad took over as new young artists popped up on stage one after the other. Iyara, Einstein and Flexx in the Complex! and then Chase cross from the Gully!!

As the Gully Gad himself waited patiently on the sidelines, he motioned to get the ‘gully gals’ some time on the mike … Up came newcomer Miss Joey Brooks, who’s sweet voice put a hush on the crowd.

But before the girls had a chance to walk up the stairs, across from the other side of the stage came Assassin …. then Baby Tash and Stacious and then with a roar, up came Spice!

Mavado came back out front and jumped into his list of hits, but struggled to stay up on the stage as the front line of women kept pulling at him his clothes and dragging him down! A brief visit from Sizzla got the crowd even more hype, and then up came Busy Signal and then The Poor People’s Governor … the crowd went nuts!!.

Then, with screams from the crowd up came Wayne Marshall … then Bling Dawg and again Bounty Killer.

The stage could barely hold the line up of incredible talent…and as fully loaded alliance team blasted out the best rendition of “Keepin It Gangsta” … I smiled and was glad I was at the right place at the right time.
