Capleton’s Tour being cancelled.

A Jcapleton 1024x737 Capletons Tour being cancelled.amaican reggae star’s U.S. tour was canceled recently after several gay activists raised concerns about his homophobic lyrics. Renegade Productions, which was in charge of Capleton’s West Coast tour, announced the cancellation on its website.

Another artist, Cocoa Tea, was scheduled to tour with him. The tour was set to begin on Monday at the Ragga Muffins festivals in Long Beach and Oakland, Calif., but Capleton was removed from the lineup. Earlier, people and groups in two other California cities, Humboldt and San Luis Obispo, lobbied to halt Capleton’s appearances, according to reporter Michael Petrelis.

Capleton was one of the artists who agreed to the Reggae Compassionate Act in 2007, in which he pledged to renounce and condemn violence against LGBT people. However, he has yet to stop performing songs with violent or homophobic language.

“We thank the venues and promoters who denied Capleton a platform after learning about his history of violent lyrics,” said Rashad Robinson, senior director of programs for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. “But at the end of the day promoters need to become better educated about the talent they are elevating. GLAAD will continue to speak out and take a stand against artists who promote violence against our community.”

Capleton has never specificaly singled out gays or lesbians in his songs. Due to his rough upbringing he was in his early years considered a rude boy lyricist, but has since renounced violence and been one of the most outspoken love promoters. He is very religious and speaks of wicked people being burned in the fires of hell, but he never singles out gays specifically. I have no animosity what so ever towards gays or lesbians, I do in fact have quite a few gay and lesbian friends, but I also love Capletons message of love and respect towards all.

KHova you must not listen to his lyrics then. Truly you must be tome deaf. Here are some lyrics of “love” and “religion” you say he speaks of:

Battyman fi dead di yuth em right bout that” (“Faggots must die. The youth are right about that.”) or how about
“bun out ah chi chi, blood out a chi chi” (“burn out a queer, blood out a queer”) and “shoulda know seh Capleton bun battyman, dem same fire apply to di lesbian” (“you should know that Capleton burns queers, the same fire applies to lesbians”).

So I think your love of his message of “love” and “respect” is SERIOUSLY misguided!

When hate against gay people comes from blacks I think is unacceptable because we accept criticism from white people only…otherwise we fall in the trap to racism..

dj aframe one thing I hav to say,you need to read the bible and question a jehovah witness about this,No Way to this gay and lesbian behaviour but then again you wouldnt understand from god’s standpoint that you are wrong because by you being blinded is only adding more and more to god’s prophecy of “we are living in the last days” say what you want you WRONG!
