Polarizing Dancehall superstar, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer may soon have more serious legal battles to fight in the near future.
The Portmore Empire leader was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in relation to the shooting death of a businessman/promoter in Gregory Park, St. Catherine. He has been held in custody since September 29th when he was initially arrested for possession of marijuana at a small, New Kingston based hotel. Over the last two days, “Di Teacha,” has been denied bail in regards to both cases. On Wednesday, he was ordered to re-appear at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrates Court on Friday to answer his murder charges while his lawyers are expected to file a renewed bail application.
Now it’s being reported that Kartel could face additional murder charges in the very near future. A high-ranking police source revealed to the Jamaica Observer that the self-professed “Worl’ Boss” is also being investigated for his potential role in a double murder that occurred in Portmore, St. Catherine earlier thisyear.
The source intimated that, “We definitely are looking into his role in the double murder of two men in Portmore and charges relating to that incident may be leveled at him soon.” Last week it was reported that Kartel was linked to the shooting death of a male dancer in Waterford, St. Catherine.
Kartel spoke out on Friday regarding his arrest from behind bars; claiming that the police are using him as a target before singing out lyrics questioning why the police decided to arrest him.
