Kelis’ milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, but she may soon be building a fence to keep Nas out.
The R&B singer, who is seven-months pregnant, has filed for a divorce from her hip-hop hubby Nas.
“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a rep for Kelis, whose full name is Kelis Rogers-Jones, tells Vibe. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
Kelis cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. The couple, who wed in 2005, is expecting a son this summer.
The pair met in 2002 at a MTV Video Music Awards after-party thrown by Diddy. Kelis recounted the party in an interview with Vibe in 2003, saying, “Everyone moves out of the way and Nas stands up and I put my hand out and I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m Kelis.’ And he goes, ‘Who?’…So I’m crawling into a f**king hole, and he’s like, ‘Wait-huh? What’s your name?’ And I’m like, ‘Kelis’ and he’s like, ‘Oh, well that’s great, because I’ve been waiting to make you my wife all these years.'”
