Prominent Jamaican music producer, Tarik ‘Rvssian’ Johnston has earned another major international boost to his career thanks to American rapper, Kevin Gates, whose debut album, Islah holds second spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Islah, released at the end of last month, features the Johnston-produced single, The Truth which was unveiled late last year. Gates album sold over 112,000 copies in its first week, placing it only behind Rihanna’s ANTI on the chart. The set was produced by Bread Winners Association/Dead Game Records and is distributed by Atlantic Records.
In October 2014, Rvssian was certified platinum in the United States thanks to his production, Passion Whine for Puerto Rican artist, Farruko.
In the meantime, Rvssian has recruited Belizean singer, King Ko$a to his Head Concussion Records label, with his first single alongside Gates titled Type of Girl set to be released on Friday.
