Slew of Dancehall/Reggae acts set for BET’s 106 and Park this week

Elephant Man Wayne Marshall BET BET’s hit countdown show, 106 & Park will get another injection of Jamaican culture on Wednesday as a myriad of Dancehall, Reggae and Soca act are set to perform at the show and do interviews.

On the lineup are Reggae/Dancehall superstars, Gyptian, Wayne Marshall and Elephant Man, who performed at last year’s BET Awards, as well as One Drop singer, QQ, emerging newcomer, Kranium as well as Soca superstars, Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons. Also featured on the show will be A$AP Ferg, known for his single, Shabba, a hip-hop ode of sorts to Dancehall legend, Shabba Ranks.

Garlin confirmed the news via his Twitter account, saying, “Everything packed and ready to step over to 106 and Park. Get ready to see the performances August 27th by yours truly the Vikingz and also with Fay-Ann Lyons, A$AP Ferg, Wayne Marshall, Elephant Man, Kranium, Gyptian and more. It’s the Carnival Take-over Labour Day style and it is going to be WILD. We are stepping to represent as one people for one people.”

Marshall also shared his excitement about the show via his Instagram page, “Caribbean people, we are going to be taking the music and culture to BET …we are moving together as one people. Full take-over,” while QQ confirmed during an interview aired Friday on TVJ’s Entertainment Report that he will be performing the aforementioned One Drop as well as another of his big hits, Stookie.

Last year, 106 & Park did a similar Caribbean-themed show, The Caribbean Takeover last September that featured Beenie Man, Wayne Wonder and Mr. Vegas.
