Child custody case involving Mr. Vegas postponed

vegasheadshotThe child custody trial involving Dancehall/Reggae megastar, Mr. Vegas has been postponed.

Originally scheduled to commence on Monday, the trial was set to begin the process of determining whether Vegas, or his ex-girlfriend, Shellian McBayne would win full custody of their two-year-old daughter. However, the case has now been postponed until April 23 after McBayne reportedly failed to show up for the hearing, which took place at the Bronx County Family Court in New York.

Vegas has been campaigning in recent months that he should receive full custody of their young daughter after she allegedly witnessed her mother, McBayne, being intimate with another man inside the prominent singjay’s Florida home. He later claimed in subsequent interviews that McBayne secretly wed in the United States, meaning their child had been born in wedlock and that he had no legal rights to the baby.

Vegas has since sold the aformentioned home and is auctioning off furniture from the residence as part of his Turning Dust Into Bricks charity.

Later this month, Vegas is expected to release his first book, Bare Tingz, a cheating novel based on this alleged incident.

Year in Review: The Best of Dancehall and Reggae in 2012

It seems like just yesterday the year started, but 2012 is already coming to a close; marking a year within Dancehall and Reggae music that showcased its share of pacesetters during Jamaica’s 50th year of Independence.

Fitting that in a year where Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Frazer-Pryce re-defined the realms of speed in London, there were a number of fast-rising stars who proved consistently that no finish line is in sight regarding their promising careers. This year proved that there may be a future for our core genres after despite two of their proverbial kings, Buju Banton and Vybz Kartel serving different forms of penance behind bars. With that said, here are my picks for the Best of 2012 in Dancehall & Reggae music.

Best Reggae Artiste – Romain Virgo: Firstly, let me say it’s quite pleasing to know the presence of Reggae, the musical art form that made Jamaica a household name, has finally re-stamped its authority on the local scene. A borage of all-Reggae projects like Busy Signal’s Reggae Music Again and Delly Ranx’s The Next Chapter help Jamaica to regain some of its true identity during our most crucial year as an independent island. However, one artiste and album conquered all.

Virgo became an instant sensation when he conquered Digicel Rising Stars in 2007. Five years later, his star has shone amongst the brightest in the industry, primarily through his latest compilation, The System. Giving us hits like I Know Better, Rich in Love and The System, the album embodied the true essence of Reggae. His performance savvy and range have vastly improved year by year, proving why he is Reggae music’s next international superstar.

Comeback Artiste(s) of the Year – Cham/Da’Ville: After scoring a major hit with Stronger (feat. Bounty Killer and Mykal Rose), Cham seemingly disappeared into the abyss for a little while. However, 2012 proved that Cham has not only refused to desert from the scene, he has an oasis of hits left in the tank.

Wine, Back Way and Tun Up were just three of the hits Cham scored in a remarkable year for the highly acclaimed superstar. His lyrical ingenuity reached new levels and while ascending up the musical stratosphere, he brought his wife and upcoming singer, Ophelia ‘O’ Beckett along for the ride.

Da’Ville endured a rollercoaster ride off-stage as he attempted to re-charge his batteries musically. Those batteries were fully charged as the Reggae fusion singer returned with a bang this year through his critically-endorsed album, Krazy Love. Hits like Woman, This Love and You Got Di Ting once again made Da’Ville a force to be reckoned within the industry and offered a more savvy side to this wise veteran of the industry.

“WHEN SHELLIAN MCBAYNE WAS IN MY HOUSE F*****G A MAN WITH NO CONDOM IN FROM OF MY 1 YR OLD BABY, 2 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRHTDAY, NO ONE WAS TELLING HER DON’T DO IT. WHEN MEN ABUSE WOMEN, THE WOMEN CENTER GOES HARD ON US, SO WHEN A GAL IS A DOG S***, SHE MUST BE PUT ON BLAST,” he said in part.

Mr. Vegas catches girlfriend cheating, threatens her with sex tape

Rarely does a public figure air his dirty laundry for the world to see but after witnessing a case of infidelity in his own home, Dancehall/Reggae artiste, Mr. Vegas has shattered the mold in how a celebrity deals with private drama.

On Tuesday, Mr. Vegas dropped a bombshell on his official Twitter page by calling out his baby’s mother, who he caught sleeping with another man in his home. To make matters worse, not only did this alleged act of infidelity happen two days before his birthday, Vegas’ one-year-old daughter was reportedly in the room as this act of infidelity took place.

Vegas posted a picture of the man who he says slept with his girlfriend on his official Facebook page, with a caption stating, “NASTY BL*******T BWOY, WHAT KIND A MAN U IS F*****G IN FRONT OF MY 1 YR OLD DAUGHTER, IN MY HOUSE AT 2 PM. FIND A HOTEL B***H!”

Vegas than blasted his girlfriend on social media, saying, “WHEN SHELLIAN MCBAYNE WAS IN MY HOUSE F*****G A MAN WITH NO CONDOM IN FROM OF MY 1 YR OLD BABY, 2 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRHTDAY, NO ONE WAS TELLING HER DON’T DO IT. WHEN MEN ABUSE WOMEN, THE WOMEN CENTER GOES HARD ON US, SO WHEN A GAL IS A DOG S***, SHE MUST BE PUT ON BLAST.”

Hundreds of Mr. Vegas’ fans came out both applauding and chastising his stance to publicize his baby mother’s actions, prompting Vegas to launch a strong defense, even hinting that fellow Dancehall star, MR. G warned him about his girl.

“NO ONE KNOWS MY HURT, UNTIL YOU CAN RELATE, TO THIS, YOU CAN ADVISE ME WHAT TO DO. I AM HUMAN, BLOOD RUN THROUGH MY VEIN, THIS IS NOT OUT OF MALICE, BUT WHEN A W***E GET CAUGHT AND FEISTY WITH IT, ITS A DIFFERENT STORY. YA’LL KNOW HOW HARD I WORK, JUST TO MAKE MY FAMILY HAPPY AND COMFORTABLE. A WOMAN CAN ALWAYS MOVE ON, IF A MAN NAH F*** YOU RIGHT, MOVE THE F*** ON! IF YOU DON’T LOVE A MAN ANYMORE, MOVE THE F*** ON! BUT DON’T F*** ME 3 WEEKS AGO, THEN ACCUSE ME OF S***, THEN START BRINGING BACK UP S*** FROM 3 YRS AGO, THEN TELL ME WE ARE OVER LAST WEEK TUES, FOR REASONS ONLY YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR MAN KNOWS ABOUT, THEN F*** A MAN IN MY HOUSE IN MY BED, IN FRONT MY DAUGHTER, DID I SAY “DAUGHTER.”
