Busy Signal to tour Europe next year, maintain presence in the U.S.

busy_signalRecently freed Dancehall/Reggae superstar, Busy Signal will return to arguably his most accommodating overseas market as he’s set to tour Europe early next year.

The popular singjay, who recently served a six month sentence for absconding bail in the United States, will embark on a promotional tour next month to highlight his highly successful album, Reggae Music Again. According to Busy’s manager, Shane Brown, the album has thrived despite the singjay’s legal issues and still has a strong shelf life in terms of popularity and appeal.

This is big news for Busy, whose album was recently named as one of BBC Music’s top 10 albums of 2012. Not only was Reggae Music Again the only Reggae project on the list, it was lauded as some plaudits as an authentic representation of the Reggae genre, fitting for the island’s 50th anniversary.

Busy Signal was humbled by this development, stating in a press release, “When I heard, I just went speechless. This is really a great honor and I just want to big up everyone who supports this album and who will continue to support this album.”

Busy’s European tour will make between 15 and 18 stops in 10 countries, according to Brown. Additionally, Busy Signal will perform a number of Reggae festivals scheduled for next July and August.

Meanwhile, despite being unable to travel to the United States due to his legal issues, Busy Signal maintains a strong presence in the North American country. According to Brown, the highly-revered entertainer will continue to promote himself to his American fans through social media and radio interviews.

Busy Signal recently revealed in a TV interview that while he may not be able to travel to the United States for the next two years, he can apply for a visa at the earliest possible convenience.

The artiste has been very busy on the local scene since returning last month, releasing several Dancehall singles and will continue to do so in the immediate future, according to Brown. Busy will also perform his first stage show in Jamaica for four years when he headlines STING 2012 on December 26 at Jamworld in Portmore, St. Catherine.

Junior Kelly Back In Jamaica After Successful Fall European Tour.

Reggae singer Junior Kelly is back home in Jamaica after a very successful fall European tour, which kicked off last October in Amiens, France. Even hurricane Sandy hitting Jamaica, weather conditions grounding flights and closing the Island airports couldn’t put a damper on him. He remained in high spirit and great energy.

Kelly departed as soon as the country airport in Montego Bay reopened on the Thursday, October 25 late evening right before his Friday, October 26 performance. With no time to spare as he landed, Junior Kelly was up for his meet and greet, press and straight to his scheduled performance.

Full of energy, good form and positively great vibes, Junior delivered his hits to the delight of eager fans. Taking the crowd on a melodic musical journey with classic songs such as “Love So Nice” to his latest hit “Been There” video. The tour took Kelly and his band through the Netherlands, France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

Reflecting on his tour Junior stated, “The energy and vibe i received from the fans during this tour was truly amazing and humbling and it was heart warming to see that people out there are still crying out for conscious music, my music, Reggae music”

“Its really beautiful to see three generations of people coming out to my concerts and enjoying and loving Reggae music, so i know it will live on”

“I really appreciate the fact that i am able to perform every day of the week and the fans came out in their numbers every night to listen to Reggae music, even in these harsh economic times when buying a concert ticket is so hard. These die-hearted fans in Europe are mainly from the poorer class of society and they have so many other choices in terms of artistes or food or paying a bill, but they come out because they see me as one of the young roots artistes whose messages make them feel good and one that is going to stand the test of time. It is truly a blessing and an honor.”

Beenie Man claims Bounty Killer sabotaged him, defends not performing at STING

Internationally-acclaimed Dancehall superstar, Beenie Man has given a more detailed explanation of why he won’t perform at STING 2011; blaming the show promoter as well as his greatest rival for not appearing this time around.

The Grammy-winning Dancehall star gave an interview on CVM’s OnStage on Saturday night; explaining his reasoning for declining an invitation to perform at the 28th edition of STING. Nearly two weeks ago, Beenie revealed that he would not grace the Jamworld stage in Portmore, St. Catherine due to comments STING promoter, Isaiah Laing made during a recent television interview. Additionally, Beenie said that he was surprised that Bounty Killer accused him of running from a potential clash at STING despite the two making plans to restore the show’s aura after a disappointing 2010 edition.

Speaking from Spain, where’s he’s on a European tour, Beenie Man intimated that he decided not to perform at STING 2011 from last year given how Laing continued to discredit he and other prominent artistes who made the event popular.
