She’s passionate, soulful, empowering and full of youthful positive vibes.Dancehall Soulstress Cherine Anderson, arguably the busiest and one of the most talented young female Jamaican singers today, is set to grace the mainstage of Jamaica Jazz and Blues festival on Thursday, January 28, at The Greenfield stadium in Trelawny. Anderson will perform alongside Babyface, The Whispers, Joss Stone, Monty Alexander and Joe Roy Jackson. A musical breath of fresh air, the young artist hails from the tough streets of East Kingston, Jamaica, and has spent the last two years building a reputation of hard-hitting songs and captivating live performances. Cherine became familiar to Jamaican audiences first as an acclaimed child actress,  having starred in two of Jamaica’s most successful films, *Dancehall Queen*and *One Love*. She has been nominated for multiple awards and was named Best Actress in a feature by MTV2 for the film One Love.

Movies aside, the singer/songwriter’s debut recording “Good Love” appeared on Sly & Robbie’s Grammy Award nominated album Anniversary. Media and reggae music lovers both at home and abroad quickly took notice of Anderson’s powerful voice. She has been steadily rising with local hits like “Coming Over Tonight”, “Kingston State of Mind”, “Good Love” and more recently “Talk if Yuh Talking” and “Shine On Jamaica”.

When asked what we can expect from her performance on Jazz, she responds,”Come out and expect to have a good time. There is a lot going on in the world right now so this performance is more than just entertainment, it’s for a cause. Jazz & Blues has decided to donate to Haiti’s Earthquake Relief, and I’m gonna give it my everything. I’ll be performing something extra special for my supporters and those who will be seeing me for the first time.”

Last year was a big year for Anderson. She performed at three eventscelebrating the inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington DC (The Green Ball, The Peace Ball, Rock the Vote/Calvin Klein inaugural party), as well as the World Games Special Olympics in Idaho, USA. In August 2009, Cherine made history by becoming the first Jamaican female singer to hit the Billboard Rock charts. She is credited as a featured performer on Michael Franti and Spearhead’s “Say Hey (I Love You)” single. The song peaked at #1 on Billboard Heatseekers charts as well as iTunes Alternative Charts. “Say Hey (I Love You)” also reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts, and simultaneously registered on six other Billboard charts (Digital Songs, Pop Song, Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Songs and the Radio Songs charts).

Only in her twenties, Anderson has already collaborated on official remixes with legendary artists including Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney, Britney Spears and Wyclef Jean, all before releasing her much anticipated debut album, which is scheduled to be released in 2010. Anderson spent last year touring Europe, Australia and North American with drum and bass legendary duo Sly & Robbie, the prolific Michael Franti & Spearhead and multi-platinum rock band Counting Crows. She also made her US television debut with Spearhead, appearing on *The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson* and recently performed live on the *Ellen Degeneres Show*.

‘Never let me go’ – ls the latest project to hit the airwaves in November by Shaggy.  The project exposes the much evolved and strong vocal talents of Tessanne Chin, (with hit songs such as: Hide away, Black books, and Messenger). ‘Never let me go’ speaks to the highly romantic and mental attraction that lovers often experience, coupled with the seeming and ever present physical attraction existing between  a male and female.
The song speaks to a need by both sexes, to provide reassurance or lifelong commitment, to life and love, with the prospect of everlasting partnership.  The collaboration comes high on the heels of the request by the Jamaican population, as well as the cry of the nations entertainment bodies, to ensure the music we produce, is one which our children can listen and ascertain good values and morals. Never let me go encourages the continued commitment, with truth, love and willingness to work towards the goal of a lasting relationship.
Never let me go is a production by the much acclaimed, local and international producer Birch, based in Kingston, Jamaica.

According to Tessanne the album is still untitled but will feature a host of new songs and a few classics. “Well I plan on heading in a totally different direction than before as it relates to the music, I’ve been doing some recording of later and the album should have anywhere between 12-14 tracks. The Garden City of Bengaluru will be the epicentre of cricket fans as the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 kicks-off this week. The cricketing quotient aside, fans will be treated to an eye-catching line-up of entertainers at the Grand Opening Ceremony at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Opening Ceremony promises to be a breath-taking visual extravaganza which will showcase world-class international acts and the global nature of the tournament. Just prior to the commencement of the Opening Ceremony, the 12 team captains participating in the inaugural edition of the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 will exchange team flags and take the “MCC – Spirit of Cricket” oath to respect their opponents, their teams and their umpires. The captains will then leave their handprints in clay, as an attestation to play the game within the spirit of cricket. Meanwhile 200 school children will perform a choreographed sequence to the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 theme song before revealing the team logos and releasing balloons.

The Opening Ceremony’s entertainment will then kick-off in earnest with 12 world-renowned Japanese drummers electrifying the atmosphere within Chinnaswamy Stadium. This will be followed by international dancers in “Michelle Ferranti’s” costumes.

Legendary Grammy award winner CHAKA KHAN will then take centre stage to entertain the crowd and viewing audience with her hit single “I FEEL FOR YOU”.

Chaka Khan will be followed by the acrobatic Cube Artists. Next on from China, will be a choreographed group of Shaolin Monks displaying Tai Chi, Kung Fu and powerful Chi Kung movements in an adrenalin-packed sequence, surrounded by the agile Kalaripayattu Artists using an ancient South Indian art form. The weaponry, choreography and fast-paced techniques by these Indo-Chinese performers will leave the audience spellbound as it will depict the aggression and spirit with which the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 will be played.

World renowned reggae artist and Grammy Award winner SHAGGY will then perform his hit single “FEEL THE RUSH”, accompanied by a multi-coloured laser show which will encase the entire stadium. To complement this, eight wind dancers will engulf the stadium to give fans a surreal effect.

British pop star JAMELIA will then take over with her international super hit song “SUPERSTAR”.

For the grand finale, all the artists, including the children, will converge onto the field to a synchronized segment of lights, laser, concert sound and a display of fireworks that will come together to make for a spectacular climax.

Keep Your Shades On 2009 Bruck Up, aka Mr. Excitement, started his career dancing in the streets and clubs of Kingston, Jamaica. His mix of reggae, hip-hop and pop brings traditional Jamaican expression into the global realm, creating a “Shaggy meets Busta Rhymes with a little bit of Machel Montanna” phenomenon ofmusic that’s beenmoving feet all over the world.

As an artist, dancer or choreographer, Bruck Up is, as always, driven by the music. His formation of The Arcade Dancers in the Nineties pioneered a dance form that mixed pop-locking with Jamaican moves, and forged his role as one of the most original and vivacious dancers in Jamaica.

After meeting director Hype Williams during the music video shoot for Snow’s “I Will Do Anything,” Bruck Up took Williams’ advice to heart and moved to America where he immediately threw his career into high gear by being featured in two major music videos—Busta Rhymes’ “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” and Wyclef Jean’s “Gone Till November.” He quickly scored an endorsement deal with designer Tommy Hilfiger, andstarted touring with pioneer hip hop artists Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick.

Bruck Up is currently in the studio recording his own music, and his dance style has started an underground movement in Brooklyn and New York that’s going global. He’s worked with hit producers including Teddy Riley and Rocwilder. Currently, the smash “SUNGLASSES feat. Shaggy, produced by hit producer J.Marty/ Soundboy Music, is burning up the clubs and airwaves from New York to Miami, all the way down to Kingston JA. Bruck Up wants everybody to KEEP YOUR SHADES ON…all night!

Beenie Man + Bounty Killer: Roseland Ballroom 2000+ Screaming Fans

Thousands lined up to witness Beenie Man and Bounty Killer perform live on the same stage.  The entrance of the Roseland Ballroom was utter pandemonium, as fans lined up for what seemed to be hours to gain access into the ultra chic venue to view what has been termed “History in The Making”.

Male and female fans alike were “dressed to impress” as they anxiously gathered to witness the Doctor, Beenie Man and the Warlord, Bounty Killer perform live on the same stage for the first time in New York City. Both performers have had a 17 year rivalry which began in 1992 and though they have performed with other artists on shows in Jamaica and around the world, they have never performed on the same stage in which they were the only featured acts.

Media outlets such as MTV, Tempo, LinkUp Media, The West Indian News, Playback TV, Forever Reggae TV, Time Warner, Tropical Fete, Trinifly Promotions among others, were on hand to capture the event.  Celebrities such as Reggae Artist Elephant Man, Shaggy, Ras Penco, Troublesum, Elly Ess, Supah Shane and Keyshia Cole’s manager, Manny Halley were also in the building.

After Bounty’s energetic performance, the Doctor, Beenie Man was ushered to the stage by a bevy of beautiful ladies.  Dressed in a black suit with a red, black and white polka dot shirt, the King of the Dancehall greeted his fans before performing his hits.  Beenie professed his love for the ladies and followed-up with a little “show and tell” in which he described his loving making tips and tricks.  This, of course, sent the ladies wild while the men gave nods of approval.

The performances, which were backed by the Ruff Stuff band, ended peacefully and fans left feeling as though they got their money’s worth.

The event was produced by New York City’s leading event promoters, Upscale Crowd.  A subsidiary of Upscale Crowd Marketing Group LLC, the company has produced weekly parties, special events, networking events and concerts for the past five years.  Upscale Crowd promised that the event would be memorable and that it was.
