Tessanne Chin – “I Just Want To Be A Wife”

Tessanne Chin The VoiceTessanne Chin has been pursuing music since she was in diapers in her native Jamaica, where her family even has a recording studio in their home. But the newly crowned winner of The Voice has more domestic aspirations on top of launching her musical career.

“There’s a music side of me and a dreamer, but really I just want to be a wife,” the gorgeous singer tells the New York Daily News.

The singer has talked a lot about her husband of two years, Michael Cuffe, throughout the season, and the affection she feels for him was easy to see. Michael was her biggest fan throughout the process, and Tessanne even joked about the fact that his reaction to her winning was bigger than hers.

“I think his reaction trumped mine,” she said about that fateful moment Carson Daly called her name. “He’s the best. He’s my rock.”

And, although she’s going to go gangbusters on her music career for now, she admits that domestic bliss is also a goal. In fact, she wants to own a farm back in Jamaica!

“Not a big farm, but I love animals and the thought of growing my own food,” she said.

Tessanne headling to Top of of NBC’s ‘The Voice’

Tessanne Chin The Voice Top 10 Jamaican songstress, Tessanne Chin is slowly but surely winning the approval of American viewers, evidenced by her most recent success on season five of NBC’s popular talent show, The Voice, after being voted into the Top 10 Tuesday night.

Chin, who instantly became a popular figure on the show since her blind audition in September, received the fourth highest vote total amongst her compatriots as The Voice sized down its Top 12 to ten during its results show. Not only did Tessanne receive the good news that she was progressing, she performed twice on the live results show, including a set alongside her Adam Levine-coached team featuring a rendition of The Beatles’ classic, A Hard Day’s Night.

Tessanne received voter’s confidence following a commendable performance of Emeli Sande’s song, My Kind of Love, which she dedicated to her husband and famed Jamaican journalist, Michael Cuffe Jr. Despite the odd glitch early on in the performance, Tessanne’s form continued to show with a fluent delivery and ability to reach deep down for effective high notes. Given this wasn’t her strongest set to date on the show given the exceptionally high bars she set early on, receiving so many votes in the end shows the viewers have grown in faith regarding Tessanne’s performing abilities, knowing she’s capable of delivering even better than she did during the second live performance round Monday night.

The competition will only prove to get stronger as the competition wears on, as other contenders such as Will Champlin and James Wolpert (Tessanne’s Team Adam teammates), 17-year-old Caroline Pennell, who received the most votes following the round and Kat Robichaud, who stays on thanks to the newly-installed ‘instant save’ feature where viewers get to save one of the bottom three contestants during certain rounds.

The Top 10 will return to The Voice stage for phase three of the live performance round on Monday night.
