The singjay, known for hits such as True Friends, Fallen Soldiers, I Love My Life and more, produced all the tracks on his album, with the first single from the set, Mama, scheduled to be unveiled in March.
“I’m looking forward to the release of my album it will be my first official full-length project,” Demarco said in a statement. “The fans have been requesting an album from me for the longest time. The wait is finally over.”
The album will include collaborations with soca star, Bunji Garlin and Ky-Mani Marley, who is featured on Mama.
According to Demarco, he could have released an album years ago due to the amount of songs he recorded, but chose to wait until the right time presented itself to do so.
“Over the years I’ve recorded enough songs to release at least for albums, but the timing wasn’t right,” he said. “Most of those songs are more like alternative and crossover songs. My team and I have done our research, and we have found out that my fans want a real hardcore dancehall album, and that’s what I’m going to give them with this project.”
Over the last two years, Demarco’s hit single, Puppy Tail has sparked one of the more popular dance crazes in Jamaican music. His more recent songs include So We Stay and Real Thugs.
