A botched plan to kill incarcerated dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel has been uncovered by correctional officers at the Horizon Remand Centre in Kingston, according to reports Friday.
RJR cites highly-placed law enforcement sources as saying that they found out about the plan, which involved a inmate at the prison and an ancillary worker. According to said sources, the worker was asked by the inmate to pick up two bottles of lotion and three ratchet knives.
However, said bottles reportedly contained poison, able to penetrate the skin and cause fatal impact shortly after being applied. The aformentioned worker was asked to pass those items to the inmate, who would attack Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, once they were both released from their respective cells.
The ancillary worker managed to smuggle the items inside the remand centre, but confessed to being part of the plan after being approached by prison officials once they discovered the items in a section of the facility. She has been taken into further custody and will be questioned further as the investigation takes shape.
Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence after being convicted for the killing of dancer, Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in August 2011. He will not be eligible for parole for another 34 years.
