Morgan, the daughter of reggae crooner, Denroy Morgan, underwent treatment for hyperthyroidism – a condition that causes abnormal acceleration of one’s metabolism and can sudden weight loss, irregular heartbeat among other things – shortly before the recently concluded tour. While with her bandmates, all siblings, Morgan complained of illness and was forced to leave to the tour abruptly.
She was rushed to hospital where she reportedly went into cardiac arrest after her organs were shutting down. Doctors later placed her on bed rest, but her condition deteriorated before additional treatment helped save her life.
The near-fatal ordeal led to much speculation regarding Morgan’s health. However, she issued a press release this week expressing much gratitude for having survived this scare and assured the band’s fans that she will make a full recovery.
“To my friends and fans around the world, who have been asking where is Una, I want to say first praises be upon the most high in Zion for the second chance he has given me at life. Every day since my release from the hospital, tears have filled my eyes and my heart thinking what life would have been like for my children, family and friends if it was really my time,” she said.
“To all, please, please do not take for granted or ignore what your spirit and body is trying to tell you. They will never lead you wrong. I want to say to those who knew of my condition, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers, and to those who are just now just hearing, just know that I am blessed and healing everyday.”
Prior to this scare, Morgan was also working on her debut album, The Evolution of Me, expected to be unveiled in December and is set to release a line of fragrances, Una, in the near future.
