For a record seventh time, reggae superstar, Ziggy Marley has won the Grammy award for Best Reggae Album as he took home the prize at the 59th Grammy Awards pre-show Sunday evening.
Marley’s self-titled album topped a category that included Reggae Everlasting from Raging Fyah, the Sly and Robbie-produced Reggae For Her by Devin Di Dakta and J.L, Falling Into Place by Rebelution, Rose Petals from J Boog and Live in Virginia from Soja.
This is Marley’s fourth Grammy win as a solo act, adding to three from his days as the front man of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers.
He performed at the pre-show prior to the award being handed out and came back on stage to collect the award after he was announced the winner.
Devin Di Dakta, his manager, Shelly-Ann Curran and J.L. all attended the ceremony as well as Raging Fyah, who are currently on an extended U.S. tour.
